Foley United States Courthouse in Albany, N.Y.Times Union ALBANY – A Capital Region doctor who prescribed the generic version of Ritalin for children in a scheme to split the drugs with their father for the men s personal use was sentenced Friday to three years and two months in federal prison. Dr. Scott McMahon, 52, a one-time member of the U.S. ski team who has battled drug addiction for years, has been in federal custody since Sept. 10, a week before he pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to conspiring to distribute controlled substances and aggravated identity theft. He must surrender his New York state medical license and the Drug Enforcement Administration registration that allowed him to prescribe controlled substances.
