The Bloemfontein High Court has dismissed an application by former Free State Premier Ace Magashule and three co-accused to have corruption charges, stemming from the Free State asbestos scandal, dropped before the trial begins. This is a blow to Magashule’s hopes of having the matter settled.
Civil proceedings are an inappropriate forum to consider the merits of the state’s criminal case against suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule and co-accused, the Bloemfontein high court said in a judgment on Monday.
