A former schoolboy, who punched and head-butted another student at a teenage Hallow’een Party in Church Road, Killiney, Co Dublin, seven years ago, has been ordered to pay the victim more than €52,000 damages and faces a legal costs bill of €40,000.
A Tesco employee, who sued her employer after falling while shopping in one of the company’s stores, searched around for a different case after seeing CCTV of the incident did not back up her €60,000 claim, the Circuit Civil Court heard Friday.
The trial of Jim Mansfield Jnr, who is accused of setting up a longtime employee to be taken prisoner by a gang, has been adjourned at the Special Criminal Court for almost six months.
This is the second adjournment in the trial, with the property magnate s case previously adjourned for several weeks on November 19 after the defence requested time to view newly disclosed CCTV footage.
Last month, Shane Costelloe SC on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), submitted that gardai had only become aware that a significant proportion of CCTV footage retained on a hard-drive had never been disclosed to the State.
