Syracuse, NY The lawyer for a Syracuse man charged with helping to organize the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol sought Monday to blame former President Trump for inciting the mob.
Matthew Greene, 33, is accused of possessing three illegal guns including an AR-15 assault rifle and thousands of rounds of ammunition when his house in Eastwood was raided Jan. 18, weeks after the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced a Washington man pleaded guilty March 26 to wire fraud and money laundering in connection with his scheme to obtain over $5.5 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans and then laundering the proceeds. The Washingtonian is scheduled to be sentenced in July and faces a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
A 42-year-old Milwaukee man pleaded guilty Monday to obtaining more than $600,000 in COVID-19 relief funds, according to the Associated Press. The Milwaukee resident could get up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced in July.
Onah made his first court appearance Monday in Binghamton before U.S. Magistrate Judge Miroslav Lovric and was released with conditions.
