Case of criminal damage to Mohill ‘house from hell’ dismissed

A case of criminal damage of three panes of a window brought against a Mohill man were dismissed by Judge Kevin Kilrane who described the property where the damage occurred as “the house from hell.”
Garda evidence detailed how an investigation was carried out to the damage at 20 O Carolan Court, Mohill on July 30, 2018.
In a written statement one of the residents of the property, Annie Lupton, claimed the damage had occurred and she had looked out the window and saw the defendant, John Heslin of 20 Cappagh, Mohill walking away with a metal bar in his hand. She subsequently made a complaint to gardai.
Leitrim Judge dissatisfied with evidence in drunk driving case

“There s an X factor in this case that I can t put my finger on but I m not happy about it. There s something else going on but I don t know what it is,” said Judge Kevin Kilrane before dismissing charges of alleged drunk driving and careless driving in Carrick-on-Shannon District Court last week.
The case involved Justin McBride, Clogher Grange, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim who was charged with driving with excess alcohol in his breath and careless driving on July 22, 2019 at Grange, Carrick-on-Shannon.
Garda Paul Mannion said he was on patrol at 2.19am on the above date with Gardai Currid and McHale. They were in the garda van travelling into Carrick-on-Shannon from the Longford direction.

A Kinlough-based haulier that a judge described as “an unscrupulous fraudster” has been told to come up with €15,000 by this Thursday or face 20 months in jail.
Sligo District Court was told how Edward Jason Sutherland Taylor with addresses at Melvin Fields, Kinlough, Co Leitrim and Rathneeeny, Laghey, Co Donegal had sent his lorry drivers on the road with false insurance certificates for a period of almost four years, from 2015 to 2019. Those drivers were then prosecuted for driving with no insurance and there were some claims as a result of road traffic accidents.
