A former Waimate man who grabbed his girlfriend in a headlock and threw her over a couch has been sentenced to nine months’ supervision. Jesse Kane O’Sullivan had spent the day in Dunedin after an argument with his partner. Still angry when he arrived home later that night, he kicked in the back door of her home and attacked her. O’Sullivan, 33, was sentenced to nine months’ supervision on his guilty plea to assaulting a person in a family relationship when he appeared before Judge Ian Mill in the Timaru District Court via audio-visual link from Waihi on Tuesday.
