Buchach, Ukraine, Jul 20, 2017 / 12:04 am (CNA/EWTN News).- At the close of his recent trip to Ukraine, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri met with youth from the troubled country, telling them not to be discouraged by the challenges they face but rather to trust in the Lord and commit to changing society for the better.
The cardinal, prefect of the Congregation for Oriental Churches, began his July 15 speech noting that the youth “have had a thousand reasons to stay at home” rather than join him and his delegation for the annual pilgrimage to the shrine of Zarvanytsia, where the encounter took place.

A Union City financial adviser is headed to federal prison for a plea-bargained 27 months for stealing more than $450,000 from mostly elderly, Spanish-speaking clients.
Ramon Herrera, 37, persuaded unwitting more than three dozen clients to sign blank withdrawal slips, which he then filled out to pull cash from their accounts in the form of cashier’s checks, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig said.
Herrera then applied the checks to accounts that he and a family member controlled, she said.
Herrera took a deal from the government pleading guilty to wire fraud rather than go to trial after the FBI caught onto him.

U.S. District Judge Katharine Hayden sentenced a Jersey City man has to 27 months in prison for participating in a scheme that involved defrauding a financial institution’s customers of almost half a million dollars.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the judge sentenced Jersey City resident Ramon Herrera, 37, on May 13 in Newark federal court following his previous guilty plea to an information charging him with one count of wire fraud.
According to the USAO, between May 2015 and January 2018, Herrera used his position as a registered broker and financial advisor at a clearing services company associated with unnamed “Financial Institution-1” to meet and learn confidential information about the institution’s customers in the Hudson County area, for whom he was ostensibly providing advice and brokerage services.

U.S. District Judge Katharine S. Hayden handed down the sentence to Ahmed A-Hady, of Keyport, after he pleaded guilty in October to one count of being in possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
While executing a search warrant at the pawn shop, which his father owned, authorities recovered a dozen firearms, including three AR-15 style firearms from the pawn shop and the apartment above the store where A-Hady lived. Three of the weapons were registered to A-Hady, who cannot possess them as a convicted felon.

Ozzy Godfrey paid tribute to his son Danny who was delivered via caesarean after his mum Danielle Jones, 18, collapsed and died at her parent s home in Bristol on January 17.
