A Queensland judge has given the green light for the construction of a clubhouse for surfers on public land on the Sunshine Coast despite opposition from a pair of wealthy Brisbane businessmen who argued the club would end up hosting boozy late night functions. On Friday Planning and Environment Court Judge Tracy Fantin ruled that the 145-member Windansea Boardriders Club at Currimundi Beach was needed in the community and would improve the physical wellbeing of the community, with minimal environmental impact to the beach foreshore. Judge Fantin ruled in her 70-page decision that concerns raised by neighbours about noise and rowdiness from drunk patrons were not made out on the evidence .
