Senior Federal counsel Mohd Sabri Othman informed a three-member Court of Appeal panel led by Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah that the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), which was representing the appellant (Idrus), was withdrawing its appeal filed on Nov 23 against the decision made by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Nov 12.

Published on: Friday, December 11, 2020 By: Bernama Text Size: Kuala Lumpur: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has objected to the application for leave for judicial review by Court of Appeal judge Datuk Dr Hamid Sultan Abu Backer (pic) to challenge the Judges’ Ethics Committee’s (JEC) decision to hold the investigative proceedings against him in-camera. Senior Federal Counsel Ahmad Hanir Hambali, who acted on behalf of the AGC, told reporters that the objection was made as the application was premature and an abuse of the court’s process. “We submitted that the committee has not made any final decision against Hamid Sultan and the application made by him is premature as the applicant has not been found breaching the Ethics Code,” he said.
