PETALING JAYA: The Federal Court's rule of throwing out leave by two groups' appeal to declare vernacular schools unconstitutional is the final victory for such schools, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
PETALING JAYA: The Federal Court has ruled that vernacular schools are constitutional in a majority two-one decision, dismissing the appeal of two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which sought to declare that the use of Chinese and Tamil languages as the medium of instruction in vernacular schools goes against the Federal Constitution.

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal was today told that Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was not a director or shadow director in SRC International Sdn Bhd to be found guilty of misappropriating RM42 million of the company’s funds.
The former prime minister’s counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah stressed that trial Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali adopted the civil law and common law concept of shadow director from England to convict the appellant (Najib).

PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): The charge over abuse of power against Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case was wrong and illegal, the Court of Appeal heard Tuesday (April 27).
Najib’s counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said this was because the former premier had no personal nor pecuniary interest when he chaired Cabinet meetings that discussed government guarantees for SRC to obtain a loan from the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP). Najib, as the prime minister, was the chairman of the Cabinet, which was the government of the day. The trial Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali was 100% wrong to conclude that he was using his position for any gratification.
