Getty Images Lawyers for Eskom have asked the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg to scrap a profoundly unlawful R8 billion agreement with Econ Oil, saying the fuel oil supplier should not even have been allowed to submit a tender.  The case was argued virtually on Wednesday before Judge Bashier Vally. It concerns a multibillion-rand tender issued in May 2019 to supply Eskom power stations with fuel oil for five years.   Econ Oil initially won an R850 million contract to supply Hendrina power station with fuel oil. The JSC concluded interviews with 11 candidates on Wednesday night. Three women and two men made the final list. The High Court judges selected to serve in various divisions across the country are Gauteng Judge Zeenat Carelse, Pretoria Judge Wendy Hughes, Eastern Cape Judge Nolwazi Penelope Mabindla-Boqwana, KZN Judge Trevor Richard Gorven and Gauteng Judge Selewe Peter Mothle. The JSC will submit the names to President Cyril Ramaphosa who will appoint the candidates.

JSC selects five names for Ramaphosa in Concourt vacancy race Share Johannesburg - Following extensive two-day interviews, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has selected five candidates for two vacancies at the Constitutional Court. The JSC concluded interviews on Tuesday night following interviews with eight candidates. The selected five candidates include; High Court Judge Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane, High Court Judge Jody Kollapen, Supreme Court of Appeal Judge Mahube Molemela, SCA Judge Rammaka Mathopo and Judge Bashier Vally. The five names, two women and three men will be submitted to President Cyril Ramaphosa for him to decide on the final two candidates who will fill the two vacant posts at the apex court.
