(PTI)Premium Share Via Read Full Story The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has filed a police complaint against four Dubai returnees who violated the government s coronavirus-related guidelines and returned to their homes without completing the seven-day quarantine mandatory for international travellers. Mumbai Police in a statement said, We have registered a case on BMC s complaint and booked four Dubai returnees under sections 188, 269 and 270 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Mumbai: FIR against 4 Dubai returnees for skipping institutional quarantine

Health workers screen passengers in Mumbai for Covid-19 (Source: PTI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday filed an FIR against four travellers from Dubai who skipped institutional quarantine and went straight to their homes from the airport. As per BMC norms, a seven-day quarantine is mandatory for passengers returning from Dubai. The travellers opted for quarantine in Hotel Golden Nest in Andheri (east) but were not found at the hotel during a BMC visit. BMC then registered an FIR against them under IPC sections 269 (negligence). Under this section, whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both.
