Volunteer opportunities in RI, week of Jan. 10 The Providence Journal © United Way of Rhode Island United Way of Rhode Island The heart of the winter is nearly here, as the colder temperatures paired with COVID-19 present additional challenges for many Rhode Islanders, particularly the unemployed and those with low income. Here are this week s volunteer needs. Family Service of RI seeks three volunteers for Friday mornings each week to receive and unpack their delivery of food from the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. They also need individuals once a week to assemble “Be Safe” kits (containing soap, sanitizers and wipes) for seniors and at-risk Rhode Islanders.
