The fund provided $1.25 million to the Nashville-based shelter-to-housing program. This is the third round of grants from the Bezos fund, which was established in 2018.
According to a release, the organization will use the funds to provide shelter and support to additional families as well as “strengthen infrastructure for key program offerings, such as youth programs and workforce development.” The one-time grant “will be catalytic in propelling Safe Haven further toward our vision of eliminating family homelessness in Nashville,” CEO Joyce Lavery said in the release. Bezos $2 billion fund was established with the two-pronged goal of granting money to existing nonprofits working to help homeless families and creating a network of new preschools in low-income communities.
