NORTHWOOD For a century, residents living in and around this tiny Chatham-Kent hamlet could count on Joyce Bowls or a member of her family to deliver their mail.
But Bowls, 84, officially retired from Canada Post March 1, making her the last in her family to deliver the route after 100 years.

Her father, Lester Pettipiece, began delivering mail on the route at 15 and officially made it his own on Nov. 11, 1918, Bowls said. “That was his first day away from the farm working.”
