A new member has been added to the Chillicothe City Schools Board of Education. According to CCSD board minutes, Kelly Dennis was appointed, during a special session on Monday morning, to fill the vacancy left by Joy Shoemaker, who passed away in December.
Earlier this month, Shawn Porter was also appointed to Chillicothe s school board. Porter fills the vacancy left by Steve Mullins, who resigned in December after serving in the post for 15 years.

The Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an honorary association of women educators, will award one $1,000 scholarship in spring 2021.
Applicants for the DKG Future Educator Scholarship must be enrolled full- or part-time in a college program leading to a degree in education; have junior or senior status with a minimum 3.0 GPA; and have earned a diploma from a high school in Alpena, Montmorency, or Presque Isle County.
Applicants who attended Alpena Community College prior to transferring to a college of education and currently reside in the three-county area served by Alpha Xi will also be considered.
