Long-time Māori health advocate Mason Durie has been made a member of the Order of New Zealand. He has a knighthood, honorary doctorates and more than 40 years of transforming Māori health, but Mason Durie’s latest accolade resonates with him because of its New Zealand flavour. The kiwi named Manukura, which means of chiefly status in Māori died Sunday, according to a statement from the Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, 78 miles (125 kilometers) from the national capital Wellington.
