Jovante Williams and Angel Butler, both 28, were charged with the murder of Yase on Tuesday(April 27), but Alameda prosecutors waited until later in the week to decide if whether or not they would charge one or both of the individuals responsible for Yase’s death.
Lil Yase, whose real name is Alexander Mark Antonyyo Jr., was killed after Butler was dating both Williams and Antonyyo at the same time. It isn’t clear which one of the two fired the fatal shots, but Dublin Police Cpt. Nate Schmidt said Antonyyo gave them the lead necessary to find his killers before he died. Also, DNA found on a shell casing at the crime scene was linked to Butler and Williams’ child.
Dublin, CA – Two suspects were arrested on a murder warrant Tuesday (April 27) during the investigation of Bay Area native Lil Yase who was shot and killed in November 2020. Although the motive in the killing remains to be determined, there is an alleged love connection among the three people in the case.
According to KTVU, Dublin police officers booked Jovante Williams and Angel Butler, both 28, who were taken to Santa Rita Jail for their alleged roles in the shooting of the 26-year-old San Francisco-bred “Who Is He” rapper (born Mark Alexander Antonyyo, Jr).

Authorities in the East Bay have arrested two individuals, a man and a woman, in connection with the murder of Lil Yase a.k.a. Mark Alexander, Jr. who was fatally shot over Thanksgiving weekend last year under circumstances that baffled his friends.
Alexander who was mistakenly identified in early reports by the name Alexander Mark Antonyyo, Jr. arrived at Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton around 1 a.m. on November 28 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. It remains unclear whether he drove himself there.
Dublin police identified a crime scene near the Dublin BART station on the 5100 block of Iron Horse Parkway in Dublin. As KPIX reports, the two suspects 28-year-old Angel Butler and 28-year-old Jovante Williams were arrested Tuesday on that same block in connection with the shooting.

Police revealed that the motive behind the murder was a love triangle involving Butler, who was dating both Williams and Antonyyo. Dublin police Cpt. Nate Schmidt revealed that Antonyyo made a dying declaration about his killers while he lay dying in the hospital. Crime scene technicians also found DNA on a shell casing from the gun used to shoot Antonyyo that was linked to Butler and Williams child.
