Two men on Monday made a brief appearance in the Protea magistrate’s court in Soweto for the brutal murder of a mentally ill woman in Mapetla.
The pair, Taelo Dipholo and Collen Sello, were arrested at the weekend, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said.
The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Jostina Sangweni.
“Sangweni was allegedly burnt by members of the community following accusations that she was a witch. It is alleged that she was attacked for wearing a traditional healer s attire,” said NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane.

Arrest Gogo Jostinaâs evil killers 09 April 2021
Comments
ANOTHER innocent and defenceless woman has been killed â all because she was mentally ill and needed help.
The story of gogo Jostina Sangweni is painful, at the least, and infuriating at best, considering that her brutal killing could have been prevented.
We reported last week about a video on social media that showed the gogo dressed in her sangoma clothing being assaulted by what appeared to be a home owner and his neighbour or friend.
In the video, the two men sounded as if they were accusing her of being in the property because she wanted to do bad things to the family.
