The arrest stems from a July 2017 investigation, after Seguine was allegedly found in possession of five dead sharks in the back of his truck in Georgia by the state Department of Natural Resources Investigator John Evans, according to a release.
Seguine was driving without a license. The sharks were found in a large circular tank. Officials say he admitted to transporting them to New York, with the intent to sell them.
Investigators found that Seguine was working under the business Aquatic Apex Life LLC and offered sharks for sale on June 29, 2017 on MonsterFishKeepers.com.
DEC law enforcement and marine biologists searched Seguine’s home and found the dead Sandbar sharks, as well as two dead Leopard sharks, one dead Hammerhead Shark and the snout of a Smalltooth Sawfish, which is an endangered species.

Joshua Seguine became a focus of state Department of Environmental Conservation law enforcement officials in July 2017 when he was arrested in Georgia by a natural resources investigator after being caught driving without a license and in possession of five undersized sand sharks, a protected species. The sharks were in a large circular tank in the back of his truck, officials said.
