Cruz outspending other senators on Facebook ads: report

Cruz has spent more than $240,000 on Facebook advertising since March, when the social media platform lifted its ban on political ads which was initially put in place around the general election. The only sitting senator who has put more money into Facebook advertising, according to Politico, is Sen. Raphael Warnock ADVERTISEMENT Republicans say, according to Politico, that the fundraising strategy will help the two-term senator raise money online and build a list of email addresses of small-dollar donors. The cash savings and donor list could benefit the Senator going into his 2024 reelection bid, especially after his 2018 election against former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (R-Texas) stacked up as the second-most expensive race of the midterm cycle after Florida, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Haley faces risks in walking fine line with Trump ahead of 2024

By Max Greenwood - 02/25/21 06:00 AM EST   When a handful of potential Republican presidential hopefuls convene on Thursday for the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), there will be one notable absence from the speaking lineup: Nikki Haley Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a potential 2024 White House contender, has found herself isolated from former President Trump The fallout from Haley’s remarks underscores the risks associated with her strategy of criticizing Trump’s actions and establishing a separate political identity while at the same time trying to appeal to his base of supporters. ADVERTISEMENT “It’s a very fine line to walk for a long way between now and the Republican convention in 2024,” said Alex Conant, a GOP consultant and former adviser to Sen. Marco Rubio

Hawley files ethics counter-complaint against seven Democratic senators

Hawley has denounced the violence after rioters breached the Capitol, resulting in the death of five people, but he has stood by his decision to try to challenge President Biden s win in Pennsylvania. Hawley made his objection after the joint session resumed after being suspended for hours because rioters stormed the building.  Hawley on Monday appeared to reference calls for him to resign, writing in a separate letter to the Democratic senators that had considered whether I should call for you to resign or be expelled from the Senate.   The First Amendment does not . give you carte blanche to abuse the Senate ethics process. I have today filed a complaint with the ethics committee that details your deliberate and partisan abuse of this process, including your apparent coordination with various dark money groups, and requests that you be appropriately disciplined, Hawley wrote.

Beto O Rourke: Ted Cruz guilty of sedition in Capitol insurrection

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) said Monday that Sen. Ted Cruz “Don’t let him off the hook. Don’t let him make this about Hollywood this is about Ted Cruz aiding and abetting an insurrection that killed 5 people including a cop and very nearly ended in the murders of members of Congress and the Vice President,” O’Rourke tweeted, referencing the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol earlier this month.  “Why does he keep this fight going with Seth Rogen even though he’s getting destroyed at every turn? Because he’s guilty of sedition,” O’Rourke added. “He’s hoping distraction & time diminish the urgency of accountability. Don’t let him change the channel or the subject, it is sedition every time.”
