A COVID-19 omicron variant thought to be causing case increases in the U.K. and Europe was detected in Aspen wastewater last month, though more recent samples have been free of it.
Whether the Aspen School District’s decision to limit exposure notifications would have an impact on the spread of COVID-19 is “hard to say,” said Josh Vance, an epidemiologist with Pitkin County Public Health.
Transmission of COVID-19 in Pitkin County remains extremely high, with around 30% of local hospital workers out with the virus, public health officials said Thursday.
