Borussia Mönchengladbach warmed up for Friday s encounter with Borussia Dortmund with a 1-0 win at home to Werder Bremen on Tuesday that came courtesy of Nico Elvedi s second-half header.

With the game at Borussia Park against Dortmund looming, Marco Rose left captain Lars Stindl on the bench at kick-off. It was a bold move, but had Elvedi not sent a free header straight at Jiri Pavlenka early on, Rose might not have had to worry about bringing on his captain. Bremen came closest to opening the scoring before the break. Yann Sommer produced a sensational fingertip save to touch away Romano Schmid s top corner-bound volley. When the Swiss keeper then had a rush of blood to the head, Matthias Ginter cleared Felix Agu s shot off the goalline with Sommer stranded.

Orlando Pride Sign Jordyn Listro
The Orlando Pride signed midfielder Jordyn Listro to a one-year contract with an option for an additional year. Listro made three starts in the NWSL Fall Series last year and the Toronto native now has her green card so she won’t take up an international slot on the roster. The signing helps Head Coach Marc Skinner bolster the midfield as he prepares the Pride for the 2021 NWSL season.

The team will get a chance to build on that Friday when they face 6th place Union Berlin, who are coming off a 2-2 draw with Stuttgart and are looking for their first win in five matches. Ali Krieger Makes List of FIFPro Nominees for World 11
FIFPro released the 55 nominees for the 2020 FIFA FIFPro Women’s World 11. The Orlando Pride’s Ali Krieger made the cut, along with 11 other United States Women’s National Team players. The club with the most players was Olympique Lyonnais with 10 representatives. The most notable names on the list include Kadeisha Buchanan, Ada Hegerberg, Amandine Henry, and Wendie Renard. As for the other USWNT players nominated, Christen Press made her debut on the list alongside Alyssa Naeher, Julie Ertz, Rose Lavelle, Carli Lloyd, and Megan Rapinoe.
