Letters: Solutions, not speeches, on global warming

For those stressing about the existential threat of global warming, Joe Biden has a singular moment in history to materially reduce carbon emissions. In his inaugural address, Biden should have announced to the world that the U.S. will rejoin the Paris Accord the day that China and India have reduced their carbon emissions to the same extent that the U.S. already has — and not a day before. Object to that idea? Well, that’s because you aren’t really interested in reducing world carbon emissions. You’re interested in politics. Which is why Biden didn’t have the guts to do it. He’s afraid of alienating people like you, who applaud naming someone like John Kerry to deal with global warming. Don’t like that idea? Suggest a better way to get the world to force China and India, the two major polluters in the world, to seriously reduce carbon emissions.
