The Bishops would lead 26-9 at the end of the first. Bishop Rosecrans holds 29th annual ‘Christmas on the Hill’ event
For 29 years, “Christmas on the Hill” at Rosecrans High School has provided local families in need with presents for the holidays.
Long time boys basketball coach Todd Rock began the tradition during his first year as head coach and the event has grown bigger and bigger every single year.
“We started with one family, five kids,” Rock says. “Now? Every year, over a hundred kids.”
The yearly event brings together the entire Rosecrans community, with athletes, coaches and even parents chipping in to keep the event running smoothly.
Merva ties record during Bishops hot 3-0 start
ZANESVILLE – The Bishops are firing on all cylinders out of the gate. They’re first three wins came by double digits. One of the keys to success… shooting the lights out. Senior Guard Josh Merva is comfortable chucking up three from just beyond half court and, hey, it works! On Saturday, December 12th’s game against Columbus’ Horizon Science Academy, he tied the school record with burying ten three pointers in one game.
“It was really cool. I remember when Michael Fisher set it my eighth grade year. So, to break the that record; it was just an honor,” Merva said.

New Lex girls sprint past Morgan; Rosecrans boys open with big win
MCCONNELSVILLE, Ohio – The last time the Morgan and New Lexington girls teams met, it took a half-court buzzer beater from Sophia Smith to put the game away for the Raiders.
But that game was nearly a year ago, and these teams have developed into two very talented squads who, some may say, are the favorites to win the MVL Small School division.
The Panthers came in to today with the unexpected advantage of actually playing games this year. Morgan has gone through multiple quarantine periods and postponements, meaning that Saturday was their very first time taking the court in the new season.
