Super excited : Final preparations for return of Aussies

It’ll be the first time since 2016 that the ‘Aussies’ have been held in the region, with up to 7000 athletes expected to power through sand and surf at Coolum, Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Clubs. SLSA’s national competition manager Wayne Druery conducted a site inspection with local officials at Maroochydore on Thursday to finetune plans ahead of the championships from April 16-24. “We’re super excited,” Druery said. “Unfortunately, we had to cancel last year justifiably due to Covid reasons and we can’t wait for it get under way this year. “It’s really exciting to be back on the Sunshine Coast, 2016 was an excellent championships and we’re super excited that we can make this one as equally exciting as well.”

This event featured speaker Philip Sheehy, the technical director of transportation and energy at ICF, Josh Linton strategic planning analyst at ONE Gas, Susan Stuver Project Manager at Gas Technology Institute, and Sam Wade Director of State Regulatory Affairs with Renewable Natural Gas Coalition. The speakers emphasized how the future costs of RNG will vary by feedstock and technological development. The research focused on anaerobic digestion and thermal gasification technologies, and depicted how in the future, in the most optimistic scenario, they would still be using only one third of available feedstocks when creating renewable natural gas.
