SECONDARY students across the Grant District Council have been recognised and rewarded for their academic achievements and commitments with a $500 scholarship.
St Martin’s Lutheran College student Leah McDonnell, Tenison Woods College student Sarah McKinnon, Mount Gambier High School student Josh Kain, Chelsea Ray and Gemma Ralph of Grant High School and Allendale East Area School’s Damon Verrier have received this year’s academic scholarship.
Each year, council provides scholarships of $500 to students at high schools across the Grant district and in the neighbouring City of Mount Gambier to students who demonstrate school values, an exemplary attendance record and an intent to undertake tertiary education.

MOUNT Gambier high school students have been given insight into South Australia’s judicial system by one its highest-ranking officials.
South Australian Chief Justice Chris Kourakis met with Mount Gambier and Grant high school students last month, detailing his career path “from country to Victoria Square”.
Chief Justice Kourakis offered suggestions to students interested in legal studies, encouraging them to travel and diversify themselves to better understand varying emotions and people.
