Limited firewood collection to be allowed at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area
Each firewood collection permit costs $10 and allows the purchaser to collect one cord of wood. Each person can get up to four permits.

WHISKEYTOWN NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, Calif. – There is wood for the taking at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area west of Redding.
Superintendent Josh Hoines said that people coming to the recreation area to collect wood will help them reduce their fuel load at the Recreation Area.
Since the Carr Fire, National Park Service employees and contractors have removed over 15,000 hazard trees at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.

Redding firefighters extinguished a fire early Friday morning at the Denny s restaurant at 542 E. Cypress Ave.
The fire department responded at 4:41 a.m. and saw a fire burning outside the building. Flames reached the restaurant s interior but there was only a minimal spread, fire officials said.
Major damage was reported to part of the building s exterior and minor damage to the interior. The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the building and $500 in damage to contents.
