This 1962 Alabama school cookbook captures Black history, recipes

Trinity High School, which operated in Athens, Alabama from 1865 until 1970, was the only Limestone County school for Black students.
The county archives, which has begun digitizing its many historic photos and documents, celebrated Black History Month in February by sharing the recipes from a 1962 PTA cookbook.
More importantly, the archives shared the stories of those who passed along the recipes.
There is old time eggnog from Coach Thomas House, who supported the school’s football team in 1962 when they refused to play until the school system replaced their tattered uniforms.
