New Ulm will at least temporarily allow e-scooters on the bike trail.
NEW ULM Electric scooters will be allowed on the bicycle/walking path around town, at least temporarily.
The New Ulm City Council unanimously approved a micromobility vehicle sharing operation license for a company called Bird. Bird will bring 50 electric scooters that can be rented and shared throughout the community.
In addition to approving the license, the council adopted a new ordinance regulating micromobility sharing operations. The electric scooters being brought to New Ulm are classified as micromobility vehicles. The city ordinance also identifies bicycles and electric-assisted bicycles as micromobility vehicles.

NEW ULM Air traffic coming into New Ulm could start flying right in the near future.
During a New Ulm City Council work session, the council received a presentation on moving the airport’s flight path from a left-hand pattern to a right-hand pattern.
This issue came about from complaints regarding plane noise. The city has received several complaints regarding the noise caused by planes flying over the city. City Councilor Les Schultz said the airport is in his ward and he receives a lot of calls about this issue. Many people have asked if the airplanes could find a different approach.
