LODI – Shortly after George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police officers, Rodney Tipton came across a social media post.
It showed a list of Black wine professionals and said please do your part to magnify their voices. And by the way, there’s not much inclusion of race in the wine industry, the post read.
The words didn’t surprise Tipton, who owns Acquiesce Winery & Vineyards in Acampo with his wife, Susan Tipton, who also is the winemaker. For the most part, the wine world from top to bottom is white.
