At a news conference in Calgary, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney speaks with reporters about two topics.
The premier first comments on Toronto-based telecom giant Rogers Communications’ proposed $26 billion deal to purchase Calgary-based Shaw Communications.
He is then joined from Edmonton by Alberta Justice Minister and Solicitor General Kaycee Madu to provide details about Bill 52, the Recall Act. If passed, their government’s bill would allow voters in the province to recall elected officials at the provincial and municipal levels of government between elections. Kenney had promised in his 2019 campaign platform that a United Conservative Party government would introduce recall legislation. They are joined by MLAs Mark Smith (Drayton Valley – Devon) and Joseph Schow (Cardston-Siksika). (no interpretation)
