Letters to The Sun, July 24, 2021: Thank you Stephen Hume for B C Confederation series

Article content We are longtime subscribers, and I was delighted this morning to see that venerable and well-liked Stephen Hume is back writing the six-part series on BC@150: Essays in Confederation. He has done well in this initial column on unraveling some of the complexity of the past related to B.C. history, and indeed all of Canada. This is doubly sad when you consider that Canada has absolutely no control over the path of climate change. We emit only 1 1/2 per cent of global greenhouse gases (World Resources Institute, 2021, Climate Watch Country Historical Greenhouse Gas Emissions), and many of our expensive climate change policies only nibble at the edges of this amount and do little to prevent the loss of Canadian lives and property.
