Comments, anyone? Anyone? Silence at 1st hearing on Delaware River bridge toll increases.
Updated Feb 17, 2021;
While online reaction over proposed toll increases for Delaware River bridges have featured outrage and more than a few exclamation points, the public hearings began on a silent note Wednesday morning.
The first online public hearing for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s proposed toll increases had zero comments about the toll hikes. None. Zilch.
The commission is calling for a series of toll changes on its eight toll bridges spanning the Delaware River between New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including the Route 22 and Intestate 78 crossings in the Easton area.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission wants to triple some passenger vehicle tolls this year as it deals with traffic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commission approved a 2021 budget with no toll increases, but on Monday published a legal ad calling for a series of toll changes on the commission’s eight toll bridges spanning the Delaware River between New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including the Route 22 and Intestate 78 bridges in the Easton area.
Most of the proposed changes would go into effect in April, with some slated for January 2024.
