A startup health and wellness nonprofit focusing on racial disparities affecting Black women took the top prize at a public business pitch event this week in Beloit.

Flora FukWa Cheng Dec. 17, 1927 Jan. 2, 2021 Flora Cheng passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2021, at the age of 93, at home in Davis, under her daughters’ care. Known by many as “Grandma Flora”, she will be remembered for her inherent ability to love and care for everyone and her sweet spirit. Flora was born in southern China in 1927. She studied nursing and after graduating, worked for the Queen Mary hospital in Hong Kong. There she met and married Kingsley, they were married 51 years. In 1959, the family immigrated to the USA. Eventually settling in Davis, Flora worked as a surgical nurse at Woodland Memorial and then Sutter General hospitals. At one time, Flora and Kin were the owner/operators of “The Ice Cream Store,” formerly on G Street. Throughout her life, Flora loved travel, real estate, gardening and feeding people. Although dementia took her memory, Flora maintained her gentle and generous spirit and her steadfast faith in God. Her concern was for others, eve
