Participants at a two-day workshop on the use of social media in fighting human trafficking organized by FIIAAP, a Spain based foundation in Owerri

The International and Ibero American Foundation for Administration and Public Policy (FIIAAP), a Spain based foundation, has commenced training of relevant government agencies on the use of social media in combating human trafficking.
Mr Rafael Rios, team leader of Action Against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (A-TIPSOM), a European Union-funded project of FIIAAP, said this in his opening remarks at a two-day workshop organised by the foundation on Wednesday in Owerri.
Rios, represented by the project’s Technical Advisor on Communication, Mr Joseph Osuigwe, mentioned the beneficiary agencies to include the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons ( NAPTIP) and the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Abuja, Dec. 19, 2020 (NAN) An Abuja-based NGO, Talkam Human Rights Advocacy Group trained 72 Nigerians across the 36 states on strategies for combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in their various states.
Talkam is an advocacy pidgin English programme on Cool FM 96.9 and WAZOBIA 99. 5 FM, both in Abuja, every Saturday and Sunday at 5 p.m., championing the course of human rights promotion and combating GBV in the society.
The training, which was held virtually on Friday, had participants from each state of the federation.
The participants were urged to be ambassadors of this advocacy in their various states.
The Convener of the training, Mr Joseph Osuigwe, said that the training was designed to build the capacity of participants and equip them with wide knowledge of how to report GBV cases.
