ANN ARBOR – The Washtenaw County Health Department and local health care providers are decreasing mass vaccination clinics as vaccines are widely available.
Since shots are now plentiful, the need for emergency distribution strategies like the county’s mass vaccination sites at Eastern Michigan University and in Chelsea has decreased.
The Health Department will continue to provide COVID vaccinations at its offices and through smaller community clinics for walk-ins. Anyone 12 years of age or older is encouraged to get the vaccine at no cost.

YPSILANTI, MI Ypsilanti officials want people to add their voices to the ongoing conversation surrounding designs to reduce speeding on city streets.
The Washtenaw Area Traffic Study has partnered with the city of Ypsilanti for the “Route Ypsilanti” project this summer that will focus on traffic calming solutions.
Four areas in Ypsilanti are the focus of the non-motorized traffic safety project East Cross Street from North Prospect Road to North River Street, North Prospect Road from Cross Street to north city limits, North Mansfield Street from Washtenaw Avenue to South Congress Street and 2nd Avenue from Michigan Avenue to Monroe Avenue.

Andrea Kanerva sat on the edge of the bed with her hair pulled up, exposing the ties of her blue hospital gown. Fuzzy green socks with white treads covered her feet.
She spoke deliberately, breathing deeply as the lines on the monitor behind her danced up and down, graphing fluctuations in Kanerva s pulse, blood-oxygen level and respiratory rate.
Kanerva, who lives in Hamburg Township and works as a service adviser for Briarwood Ford in Saline, is part of Michigan s third wave of novel coronavirus patients hospitalized at the height of a surge that for weeks has led the nation.
