NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) president Chishimba Kambwili says the police command has exhibited extreme arrogance in the manner they have handled the shooting of two civilians last Wednesday.
And Kambwili says President Edgar Lungu’s legacy will be that of a leader who destroyed Zambia’s democracy due to his failure to provide leadership amid the deteriorating human rights abuses in the country.
Speaking via a Facebook live video, Tuesday, Kambwili said it was extreme arrogance for the police to state that Nsama Chipyoka and Joseph Kaunda’s demise could have been avoided if UPND supporters heeded to police advice.

MONZE Central UPND member of parliament Jack Mwiimbu says an independent inquest into the killings of State prosecutor Nsama Nsama and UPND sympthiser Joseph Kaunda are the only way to expose the truth because Zambia Police has no capacity to investigate itself.
In a statement, Monday, police spokesperson Esther Katongo claimed that criminal-minded people were taking advantage of illegal gatherings to advance their agendas, which may lead to loss of life, and that they did so with the intention of “pushing the agenda of discrediting” government institutions for political mileage.
The United Party for National Development (UPND) Secretary-General Stephen Katuka has said that the changes at the Police Service now confirm and is an admission that the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) government, through the Zambia Police, murdered the innocent citizens, hence trying to launder their tattered and reckless image.
In a statement released to the media, Mr. Katula described the changes as as cosmetic and meaningless if the real killers are not brought to book and face justice.

SPECIAL Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Isaac Chipampe says the nation will be informed at an appropriate time on the findings of the investigations which President Edgar Lungu ordered into the shooting of two people.
Last week President Lungu directed Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja to present a report on the death of state prosecutor Nsama Nsama and UPND member Joseph Kaunda to him by Monday.
In an interview on why there was no communication regarding the report yesterday, Chipampe said the nation would be informed at an appropriate time.

THE police officer who fired live ammunition and killed Nsama Nsama and Joseph Kaunda will never be found, let alone brought to justice. This is because it is not in the best interest of the police command for the trigger happy officer to be identified. If the Inspector General was truly interested in getting the culprit, he would have done it the very next day. Even a civilian can conduct a quick investigation to get to the bottom of this.
It is common knowledge that when a police officer is handed a firearm, the station records the name of that officer and the details including serial number of the gun collected. The same is done when an officer takes ammunition. The number of live bullets collected from the station is recorded, meaning when retiring the firearm, the bullets must be counted to ascertain how many were expended. Any round of ammunitio
