Committee calls special budget meeting, passes budget to Council

The council voted to forward Lynch’s budget for the next fiscal year with one amendment. Community Development Services will receive an additional $31,000 that they had requested for the next fiscal year. Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch presented his proposed fiscal year 2021-22, $41,241,000 budget for the second time during the meeting. Lynch told the council that his proposed budget is roughly $3.1 million dollars higher than the previous year. Pension contributions, cost-of-living-adjustments, increased wages for department heads and additional transfers were the reason for the additional $3.1 million, Lynch said. Lynch added that there were no department agency cuts this year. The mayor also brought to the council’s attention a new line for a fire truck replacement plan.
