The New York City Sheriff s Office broke up a 75-person party inside a cramped basement in Queens early Sunday morning, where high levels of carbon monoxide were detected. Sixty-three partygoers face a rare $1,000 fine each for health code violations at the location, which was known to frequently hold pandemic parties, investigators said.
The bust happened shortly after midnight at 65-25 Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside, following a tip about an unlicensed bar and nightclub in the basement, according to New York City Sheriff Joseph Fucito.

Dozens of people who were drinking and smoking hookah inside an illegal club in New York City were cited over the weekend and the club owner has been arrested, authorities said.
Sheriff Joseph Fucito announced that deputies found at least 75 people inside an illegal bar located at 65-25 Roosevelt Avenue in Queens on Saturday. The location had a heavily fortified door and blocked egresses, creating a safety hazard in the event of a fire or other emergency, Fucito said.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Daniel Presti, who was busted last month and accused of driving into a sheriff’s deputy while trying to flee an arrest near his Grant City bar, testified before a grand jury on Thursday, his lawyer confirmed.
Attorney Mark J. Fonte said Presti, an owner of Mac’s Public House, testified for about 90 minutes and “gave a detailed and honest account of the events of Dec. 5th.”
