BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A powerful nor easter dumped more than three feet of snow in certain parts of New York state by Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Binghamton, which is in Broome County, got a record 42 inches of snow. Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said the snow fell at a rate of 4 to 5 inches per hour. This is the fastest rate of snowfall I ve ever encountered, he said.
