For just the second time in a decade, the Burlington City Council has blocked an item from being on the town meeting day ballot. In a 7-5 vote, the council decided to prevent the Apartheid-free measure from being voted on, which would have required councilors and the mayor to make a pledge against racism and discrimination, as well as committing them to divesting away from the Israel-Hamas war.
