A young Blount County man has been sentenced in the 2017 killing of his parents.
A judge on Wednesday sentenced Leo Santiago Chavez, 20, to two consecutive life sentences plus 10 years for the murders of his mother, Adalberta Chavez Ruiz, and his father, Ricardo Santiago Gonzales, at their home on Covered Bridge Road. The couple was shot, wrapped in garbage bags and then dumped in a shallow grave in Oneonta.
