Two indicted for Collinsville gunfight Scott Cousins, scousins@thetelegraph.com FacebookTwitterEmail EDWARDSVILLE Two men from Springfield, Illinois, have been indicted by a Madison County grand jury related to a gunfight in late August in several Collinsville parking lots. Jessie R. Bates Jr., 33, and Marlin R. Thompson Jr., 27, were indicted on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony. Bates was also indicted for unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 2 felony. The case was originally presented by the Collinsville Police Department. According to court documents and information from the Collinsville Police Department, on Aug. 29 the two allegedly traded gunfire in the parking lots of the Waffle House restaurant and St. Louis Break Co. near Collinsville Crossing and N. Bluff Road.
