Proposed bill would ban referring students to police to be ticketed

A proposed Illinois bill would prohibit school officials from referring students to local law enforcement for ticketing.  Introduced by State Rep. La Shawn Ford (D-Chicago) in mid-February, the legislation amends the Illinois School Code to make referring students to a local public entity, school resource officer or peace officer for a fine illegal if there.

ETHS reinstates indoor mask requirement for all students and staff

Evanston Township High School reinstated its requirement for students and staff to wear masks indoors on Sunday.  The new mandate, enacted on Monday, follows a Feb. 28 decision to lift a previous mandate and replace it with “mask choice.” The mandate applies to all community members regardless of vaccination status.
