From his home in the far-flung outskirts of the city, the distance to those gleaming skyscrapers seems insurmountable. This run-down suburb is a hotbed of violence, scheming, criminal masterminding and car pimping, home to a rough-and-ready wannabe mafia. In this respect, at least, Calparsoro’s film dovetails thematically with the quinqui aesthetic of flares, frenzy and trigger-happy violence, peopled with low-lives ready to prostitute themselves for a bit of cash, created by trailblazing filmmakers like
HBO has a new horror series on the way called “
30 Coins.” HBO Europe produced the series, which includes an eight-episode season set to premiere on January 4th. The first two episodes will air back-to-back on HBO, and the episodes will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
The description reads, “30 Coins follows Father Vergara (Eduard Fernández), an exorcist, sent away by the church, to become the local priest of Pedraza, a remote town in Spain. When inexplicable terror begins to plague the idyllic community, the local vet Elena (Megan Montaner) and the town’s mayor, Paco (Miguel Ángel Silvestre), form an unlikely alliance to understand the source of the strange and demonic events. The series also stars Macarena Gómez, Pepón Nieto, and Manolo Solo.”
Spider-Man writer David Koepp has been tapped to pen the screenplay for a
Green Hornet and Kato movie, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Produced by Universal Pictures and Amasia Entertainment, the project marks the first Green Hornet film since Michel Gondry s 2011 interpretation starring Seth Rogen and Jay Chou.
Koepp cleverly confirmed the news to SYFY WIRE via email, writing: Now I just have to type it.
Amasia Entertainment acquired the worldwide rights to the classic IP earlier this year; the company was founded by Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant (former president of Marvel Studios). In addition to the big screen reboot, Amasia is also working on an animated series with Kevin Smith at the helm. It will be centered around the next generation of heroes: Green Hornet s son and Kato s daughter.
