Over the next few months, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at each of the Jets’ rookies. We continue today with linebacker Jamien Sherwood.
The 21-year old Sherwood is 6’2” and 216 and was the 146th overall pick in the fifth round of this year’s draft. He racked up 140 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception and 10 passes defensed in three years at Auburn.
Background
Sherwood was a four-star safety prospect in high school and was eventually recruited to Auburn where he contributed in a reserve role as a true freshman in 2018. He ended the season with 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two passes defensed and an interception.

Good morning, Gang Green Nation! Very little in the way of Jets news today. That’s kinda boring, but boring is good. The offseason can be a time for players with too much time on their hands to get into mischief. So far the Jets have been relatively mischief-free this offseason. Fingers crossed we can get through the rest of the way until the season starts with a boring, uneventful few months.

He played in the outside zone system, he has off-platform ability that is unrivalled and he has the swagger and confidence to take New York by storm.
#14 Overall Pick - Alijah Vera-Tucker, USC, OG
Some people have questioned the Jets for moving up for the best interior lineman in the draft. Those people in my opinion are short-sighted. The Jets made an investment in Wilson and they needed to protect it. You collect picks to allow you to be aggressive when the move is right. Vera-Tucker should slot straight in a LG, last time he played that position for USC in 2019 he was dominant in the run game and he allowed 1 sack, 0 hits and 6 pressures in nearly 600 pass-blocking snaps. The same people questioning the Jets are the same people who questioned the Colts when they drafted Quent
