In April 2022 The New Yorker posted an article titled “How Democracies Spy on their Citizens” detailing how an iPhone 8 Plus phone owned by Jordi Solé, a pro-independence member of the European Parliament, was hacked by an attacker using NSO’s Pegasus spyware. Other similar cases were published in 2021 and 2022 and today, Apple introduced Lockdown Mode coming to iPhone, iPad and Mac Operating Systems to address high-level spyware.
