GREENFIELD The School Committee has agreed to terms with The Management Solution Inc. for extended services, so it won’t only provide the district with its business manager, but also a lead administrator and two superintendent-licensed consultants until Superintendent Jordana Harper can return to her duties.
Dr. Judy Houle will be the Greenfield School Department’s lead administrator, managing the day-to-day operations at the superintendent level, while Nadine Ekstrom and Allen Himmelberger will serve as consultants.
School Committee Chair Amy Proietti said the agreement is on a month-to-month basis. It will end when Harper who hasn’t been “actively working” for about a month returns to duty. Until then, the new arrangement will cost about $10,000 a month.

The committee received the petition earlier this week, which included signatures from parents, educators and others who want to see children return to in-person learning by April 26.
“I appreciate the folks who are asking for us to move to an in-person model by late April,” School Committee Chair Amy Proietti said. “It’s very important to get students back into school.”

GREENFIELD The Greenfield Education Association has sent a letter to the School Committee asking why it hasn’t been informed about Superintendent Jordana Harper’s recent “extended leave of absence” and who is in charge while she’s out.
“In this time of so much change and uncertainty in public education, it is more important than ever to have strong leadership and a clear chain of command within our schools,” the letter to the School Committee reads. “It has recently come to our attention that Superintendent Harper is on an extended leave of absence, yet there has been no information provided to staff, parents or community members about this and, more importantly, who is acting as superintendent in her absence.”
