Ivan Nova’s tenure as a Detroit Tigers lasted just 19 innings.
The free agent pitcher signed a minor-league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. The move reunites Nova with his old skipper from the New York Yankees, Joe Girardi.
The Tigers signed Nova to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million last January, hoping he could serve as a reliable innings-eating. Nova had averaged 175 innings over the previous four seasons.
